Denmark was our third meeting on Wednesday. We met with three interns who are all working with diplomats in the six committees of the general assembly. They each specialize in their specific topics, showing their devotion to multilateralism through hard work and a strong nationalistic spirit. In the UN, Denmark works in alliance with the other Nordic countries. Every other term of the Security Council (each term is two years), one of the six Nordic countries runs for a seat in the Security Council. Denmark last held a seat in the council in 2005, so they are soon to return to the council. Denmark is a strong advocate for the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGβs) which work to raise awareness for climate security and help ensure that the world develops in a sustainable manner. Denmarkβs Permanent Mission to the UN clearly reflects its countryβs values to the fullest, focusing on developing multilateralism to make the world a safer and happier place.
