Permanent Mission of Haiti

Permanent Mission of Haiti to the United Nations πŸ‡πŸ‡Ή
815 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10017

During this meeting I met with both the permanent representative Ambassador Antonio Rodrigue and the deputy permanent representative Dr. Guy Metayer. In my meeting with Ambassador Rodrigue we discussed topics ranging from the current political situation in Haiti to Haiti’s focuses within the United Nations. Following President Moise’s assassination in July, Haiti has been in a situation of political instability, something the UN is assisting Haiti with. For Haiti, environmental protection and global warming is a pressing issue. With an increased number of hurricanes passing through the country each year Haiti has a major interest in mitigating these issues. In terms of Ambassador Rodrigue’s background he was Haiti’s foreign minister before his posting here in New York and we discussed the differences between serving in the UN to managing the foreign ministry. In my meeting with Dr. Metayer a major concern he brought up was the type of aid that Haiti needs. Instead of just providing aid when natural disasters hit Haiti, Haiti wants countries to invest in its economy in order to prevent the fallout that happens after a major natural disaster.
