Permanent Mission of The Gambia

Permanent Mission of The Gambia to the United Nations πŸ‡¬πŸ‡²
336 E 45th St 7th floor, New York, NY 10017

For our meeting at the Mission of The Gambia to the UN we met with the deputy permanent representative Mr. Lamin Faati. This meeting was especially interesting as during it we discussed what it was like for a smaller African nation to represent their country at the UN. Mr. Faati has been at the UN before in a previous posting. After this, he was selected as the deputy foreign minister for his home country. After this posting, and after the formation of a new government following the overthrowing of former President Jammeh he was once again posted in New York. As a smaller country in the UN, Gambia has to choose its priorities within the UN. The UN itself has supported The Gambia’s efforts towards free and fair elections. In addition to this, The Gambia is a major troop contributor to the UN peacekeeping force where they have been posted in places such as the Central African Republic.
