Consulate-General of North Korea
Consulate General of the Democratic Peopleβs Republic of Korea π°π΅
Location: Suite 1101, 11 floor Chinachem Century Tower, 178 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai
The Consulate General of the DPRK is located in an unassuming building in Wan Chai all most as if to avoid any unnecessary attention (I wonder why π€). Unfortunately, the DPRK Consulate visit had a rocky start (donβt trust google folks π¬). After realizing the offices of a random German trade fair organizer was not in fact the consulate of North Korea, we regrouped and found the actual address of the consulate a few buildings away (thanks google π ). Arriving on the 11th floor of the Chinachem building Nothing alerted us to the presence of the consulate. Usually there is a plaque or flag outside of their doors, however this consulate blended in with all the other offices. The doors of the consulate were made of a one way mirror, with only a small doorbell. After ringing and waiting for several moments, we saw a shadow emerge from behind the one-way mirror. The Consul General who was dressed in a light blue button-up, opened the door, and asked if we spoke Chinese (in Chinese). Thanks to our combined 18 years of barely listening in Chinese class, we told him in our passable Chinese of the intentions of our visit. After definitely understanding what we said, he gave us his email address and told us that we should email him if we wanted to talk. As he closed the door, we caught a glimpse of a large North Korean flag adorning the dimly lit interior. As such, we concluded our second trip of this journey with an inconclusive review. Luckily for you folks we are planning a return trip to this consulate with an appointment in the near futureπ€.
