Permanent Mission of Bulgaria

Permanent Mission of The Republic of Bulgaria to the United Nations πŸ‡§πŸ‡¬
11 E 84th St, New York, NY 10028

We started Tuesday off in the Permanent Mission of Bulgaria, where we met with Deputy Permanent Representative Ms. Julia Tzerova. She grew up in Bulgaria and earned her masters degree in history at the University of Warsaw. Ambassador Tzerova has worked hard to uphold the values of Bulgaria in multiple postings including in Finland, the Netherlands, and now in New York. She finds herself most excited by her work with the UN in New York, as she believes that the multilateral approach is the most effective method towards world peace. Bulgaria has numerous accomplishments in the UN as an active member in international diplomacy. They have been elected to the Vice Presidency of ECOSOC (economic and social council) in 2022 and are active in all 6 general committees along with the Human Rights Council. Bulgaria also works closely with members of the security council, although, like other countries, they feel that the security council needs reform. Ambassador Tzerova stated that the β€œsecurity council does not correspond to the realities of the modern world,” which is due to the extreme exclusivity within the security council.
