Permanent Mission of Egypt

Permanent Mission of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the United Nations πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡¬
304 E 44th St, New York, NY 10017

For our second meeting of the day we visited the permanent mission of Egypt to the United Nations. There we met with a counselor and the deputy permanent representative Dr. Obaida El Dandarawy. With them we discussed various topics ranging from security council structures and functions to the COP27 conference which will be held in Egypt next year. As a founding member of the United Nations Egypt is active in all areas of the organization. It participates in all six committees even with a limited staff. As Dr. Obaida El Dandarawy put it, the Egypt mission does the work of a large mission with much less staff. We discussed the actions of the UN and its resolutions and how there is a certain level of inaction in terms of the implementation of these resolutions. Lastly, when applying these resolutions to different countries Dr. El Dandarawy stressed that they should be implemented in different ways as not all countries have the means that richer countries do.
