Permanent Mission of Uganda

Permanent Mission of Uganda to the United Nations πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¬

At the permanent mission of Uganda to the United Nations we met with deputy permanent representative Ambassador Philip Ochen Odida. He has served in the Ministry of foreign affairs for quite some time and is extremely experienced in both bilateral and multilateral relations. Uganda is part of the landlocked least developed countries group, but are quickly on the up and up. Although there are many barriers to growth such as developed trade regimes and restrictive sustainability goals, Uganda has found great ways to develop and diversify their economy. Tourism, agriculture, industrial production, and good relationships with neighboring countries have all contributed to Uganda’s quick growth. In regards to the UN, Uganda was on the security council in 2011, focusing on the riddance of terrorism throughout Africa. Uganda was involved in many peace processes such as ones in Somalia, South Sudan, and Ethiopia. They find the sustainable development goals and other goals set by developed countries as aspirations which they are quick to comply with, although they are unrealistic to accomplish quickly. We would like to thank Ambassador Odida for meeting with us and we enjoyed our thorough discussion on the efforts of Uganda within the United Nations!
